5 Things I’m Replacing This Month – August

One of my favourite things to watch / listen or read is a review of something that has been completed or used in its entirety. I love the transparency of it. I love to see the person talking about an item they have used so they can give a genuine honest opinion. This is something I started doing on the last day of the month on my instagram stories and I wanted to use this space to share the same.

I am a planner and I like budgeting – I’m definitely not an impulse shopper. I like to plan my purchases even if its just a lip gloss! I usually sit down and take stock of everything the last week of the month and on the last day I create a list of 5 things I am replacing and I stick to it.

You should try and do the same and see how you get on.

Here is a list of 5 things I will be replacing in August.

Biotin: If you already follow me you know I am forever on a hair journey – desperate for the thing to grow! I have dipped in and out of taking Biotin over the last few years and I always find it works!! I think the last time I stopped was because I was doing laser hair removal before the wedding and it can make all your hair grow if you know what I mean šŸ˜‰ BiotinĀ is actually one of the main ingredients of all those hair supplements you see advertised. It’s a B vitamin often recommended forĀ good hair health. SinceĀ biotinĀ deficiency can lead to thinning of theĀ hair, it is claimed that takingĀ biotin supplements in tablet form can thickenĀ hair and stimulateĀ hairĀ and nailĀ growth. I have experienced growth in my hair and nails so I am starting again.

Please note it does say it needs to be taken as part of a well balanced diet, I am not a doctor and in no way qualified to advise on supplements or diet so please speak to a professional if you have any questions. I am just saying it worked for me but we are all totally different! The brand I recommend is Solgar and they seem to be cheapest on Amazon. Click the pic below for #AF link.

Silk Pillowcase: I’ve actually had about 4 or 5 at this stage but like all bed clothes they need to be replaced. As you well know at this stage I am practicing the #7dayblowdry and I need all the help I can get to maintain the mane. I read somewhere that the right silk pillowcase is a sleep super weapon for you hair and skin!! Think about it we spend so much time in bed… silk pillowcases can change the entire game for you. Thanks to silk’s super smooth texture, hair glides over it without any friction which means you’ll be less likely to wake up with frizzy hair, tangles, or bedhead, whereas cotton can snag hair and mess it up into a nest of tangles overnight.Ā

But it doesn’t stop with hair… sleeping on a silk pillowcase will leave you less puffy in the morning, and for anyone with rosacea, silk will be less abrasive on your face than your run-of-the-mill cotton covers, which can help reduce redness. I’ve just ordered this one from Amazon (I’m addicted to Amazon) you can click on the pic below for the #AF link.

Armani Luminous Silk Foundation: I’ve been using this foundation for YEARS!! I don’t even try other foundations!! During college I was working part-time on a makeup counter for a very well known makeup brand and I would have to avoid anyone that asked what foundation I was wearing because it wasn’t the brand I was working for!! I am loyal to the core to this foundation – even bringing my own bottle over to my wedding makeup artist fearing she wouldn’t have it. I’ve oily skin and I’m prone to the odd breakout but I love the way the foundation covers up as much or as little as you like, with a dewy, glowy finish but not shiny – its like the perfect balance of everything. I wear shade 6.5 – but play around with shades if you’re not sure. I usually get mine in Brown Thomas but I’ve started using LookFantastic (BUY IN STERLING) when shopping and I’ve been equally impressed with the deals they have on and the brands they stock. Mac Mineralize Skinfinish: I cannot live without this in my makeup bag and if you watched my stories you will see I am right down at the pan and anxiously waiting for a delivery. I can understand why they call it ‘skinfinish’ because I really don’t feel finished until I use this powder. It’s a a slow-baked, domed powder. I wear the shade Medium-Deep and it’s the most perfect bronzer for contour. I won’t lie it doesn’t stop with contour on holidays I use this powder on my whole face and chest for the gorgeous sun kissed glow. If you are on the hunt for a new bronzer 100% try this. You can click the pic below for the #AF link – its on LookFantastic again so be sure to check the deals at checkout.

YSL For False Lash Effect Mascara: Last but no means least I will be replacing my favourite mascara. This hands down is the best mascara and I’ve been around the block with lashes etc. You are guaranteed to get at least one person asking you if you are wearing fake lashes when you wear this so believe the name! It’s dramatic but suitable for day wear. I’m a contact lens wearer so I do have sensitive eyes and lets be honest I’m an emotional wreck and I cry a lot and I can confirm it still works for me. They have also mastered a waterproof version if you want to try that! I wear black but I am also partial to a brown shade for a daytime look. Click the pic below for the #AF link.

I would love to hear what you are replacing this month – let me know in the comments below.

Have a beautiful month xox
